The triple AAA’s are an essential part of the coaching industry. These are the elements of coaching that both clients and coaches must have in order for there to be success.
The first A is, “Attitude.” The coach must have the attitude of wanting to serve others. This is paramount in giving clients the proper attention and care. When the coach enters the agreement with the client, he or she will not only ask the right questions but will also follow the client’s lead in pinpointing what he or she wants to accomplish. The coach will be attentive and feel empathy when needed. This will ensure that his or her client will receive the best results.
The client will have an attitude of willingness to open his or herself up in order to receive assistance. This will bring about truthful responses from the client, which will allow the coach to obtain the information needed to make a proper assessment.
The second A is “Awareness.” The coach and client must be aware that neither person is coming from a place of perfection. In this way, it is more akin to a partnership. In other words, both coach and client are a work in progress who can assist one another in their individual growth and development. Look at it this way, one of the greatest forms of growth is helping others. On the flip side, seeking assistance displays tremendous strength and character.
The final A is “Actions.” The coach not only lays out a plan of action for his or her client but the coach takes steps everyday in order to improve his or herself. Carrying out actions of self improvement is his or her own life enables the coach to be more effective on the job.The client will perform the action steps that the coach has laid out with enthusiasm. The client does this knowing that the action steps are for his or her benefit.
These AAA’s are essential for the coaching profession. For the people who are seeking coaching, find one who has these AAA’s in their arsenal. As for my fellow coaches, let us arm ourselves with these.
